This is a high-intensity, comprehensive, and individualized approach consisting of nutrition therapy, physical activity, and behavior modification. At BestFit, this is delivered by a skilled and experienced obesity medicine specialist — to whom you will have access through frequent follow up visits and a HIPAA compliant messaging system.
Each individual is different on how they respond to nutrition, exercise, behavior changes, and medications. Weight loss also depends on several factors including your current weight, age, gender, metabolic profile, comorbidities, lifestyle (including sleep and stress) and activity level. A good starting point is to improve your health, well being, and quality of life, making you feel better overall! You will be able to discuss your specific personal goals with Dr. Taw.
Your nutrition therapy or meal plan will be chosen with your specific needs in mind, in a shared decision-making process with Dr. Taw. Options include (but are not limited to): well-formulated ketogenic, flexible low carbohydrate, plant-based, and Mediterranean style eating patterns, and the personalized and safe use of intermittent fasting, time-restricted eating, or meal timing. The consumption of high-satiety foods, whole foods/real foods, and less processed, hyper-palatable foods is encouraged. The goal is to find a smarter and effective eating pattern you will enjoy and can stick to long term.
Kickstart participants have the option to transition into the 3- or 6-month programs at any time. Long-term maintenance plans are available after completing either the 3-month or 6-month programs (see pricing page for details). Individual appointments are also available. Please contact Dr. Taw for more information.
Yes, Dr. Taw can certainly work alongside your primary care provider—in fact, it is required that you have a primary care provider throughout the program. Dr. Taw may request for certain preliminary labs through your primary care provider or other specialists.
This is a 100% virtual or telemedicine practice which visits are done remotely through a HIPAA-secure digital platform. Currently, Dr. Taw is able to treat patients in Pennsylvania, New York and Virginia, where she holds medical licenses.
If you do not have current labs, Dr. Taw may ask for specific labs to be ordered/done through your primary care provider.
